30 Minutes Very Well Spent.
Ordinarily, I’d probably be on the Western Front right now, either ‘here’ on the Somme, or in Ypres. However, like so many other things, the current Coronavirus has put paid to that. How wonderful, therefore, to be able to sit in my quiet room, headphones on, and listen as Paul guides me ‘step by step’ around Pozieres. He has the perfect voice for this type of broadcast - calm and soothing - as well as a lovely knack settings in reassuringly familiar ways. Finally, yes, I learned some new things. Quite frankly, that’s 30 minutes of my life that I wouldn’t want back: thoroughly enjoyably spent.

Enjoyed this very much. Full of anecdote, very knowledgeable and I really appreciate the method of presenting the information as if you are on a walking tour. Good mix of military and social history. Full marks to whoever thought of adding birdsong. Highly recommended.

Paul’s conversational style, expertise, knowledge and reverence for his subject matter is very engaging. These podcasts will appeal to anyone who wants to put some of the biggest battles of WW1 into a local and sometimes personal context. Excellent listening!
