Verdun to Fleury
Another great podcast by Paul. His account of the Ossuary at Douamont was both fascinating and moving. Also interesting was his description of the impact of the Great War on French demography, which still casts a little long shadow, even now medals are awarded for raising large families and in 1942 abortion was made a capital offence and in 1943 Marie-Louise Giroud was guillotined for carrying out 27 abortions. I wish that I had paid more attention to my French teacher at school,as I would love to read the book Paul mentioned by Jacques Pericard, but will have to wait until it is translated into English!

Superb, nugget size bites of the history of WW1 from a man with a real knowledge and passion which clearly shines through. Paul’s calming and mellifluous voice adds to make a truly remarkable adventure through northern France and Belgium. Brilliant!

Very atmospheric and informative podcast. The narrative almost makes you feel you are walking alongside. I have been to the battlefields a number of times and have learnt a great deal more from this fabulous podcast ..
