I came for Stacey, but I stayed for the story
The world weaved together by the DM and players in the Orpheus Protocol is cohesive and compelling. Some actual play podcasts can let their players go all out open world sandbox, which I imagine is fun to play, but becomes tedious to listen to. The Orpheus Protocol always feels like the plot is being advanced, but in an organic way that sounds fun for the players, while also drawing the listener in. In addition, the editing seems to contribute that that feeling of progression, which I personally appreciate. Lastly, after switching over from Cthulhu and Friends, I thought there was no way this was going to get anywhere near as gory or dark. They even have a warning and I didn't believe them... First of all, I want to say you don’t need to know all about RPGs in order to love this podcast. I know a lot more now than I did when I first started listening, which was basically nothing, and it didn’t matter at all.
