Completely agree with your perspective on neutrality - unfortunately we are in very dangerous times

Your recordings are so low I have to turn up the volume, but your ads are so loud such that it's a real wreck-the-buzz when they come on.Read full review »

Great podcast, only problem is the audio. The audio quality is perfect but the recording volume is set too low. Even at full volume it is difficult to understand. Other podcasts have a higher volume. Hope it is corrected.

I’m a Brit living in Israel, and I have no idea how I stumbled across this podcast but I enjoy listening to it. Right now we are living in and out of bomb shelters as the rockets from Gaza pound central Israel. I enjoy the tranquility of the podcasts, the balance btw Irish and English hosts and...Read full review »

Overall I like this podcast and listen to every episode. Both Jim and Chris are informed, eloquent and experienced in their fields and have interesting takes on things economic. However I do find that they don’t act as foils to each other and just take turns to say their own pieces and move on....Read full review »

I like listening but the sound quality is beyond awful. Often turn it off because I can’t hear it.

Sober and detailed economic analysis of local and international issues. I think the two guys are easy to listen to despite the somewhat dry content. I would give 5 stars only I find Chris’s idiot to be persistently very low. I can’t hear him well in the car or while brushing my teeth. Please...Read full review »

The Irish guy is good but he lists too many numbers - just give us the analysis. What’s the point you’re trying to make? Who needs to hear ‘ from 56.3 to 44.2’ over and over again. Otherwise great podcast. Thanks.

Chris John’s is great. Insightful and great voice for radio. Jim Power is not. Knows his stuff but terrible voice and always sounds like he’s recording out of his toilet.

Covers the big economic and political issues of the week in useful depth. Always worth a listen.

I’m a regular listener to the podcast gents but that music on the prelude does not match the theme or energy of the show 😆

Two very interesting economists, essential listening for those that want a balanced informative set of views on the intricacies(or indeed the simplicity) of the Anglo/Irish economies. Obviously there much earlier collaborative work time together has made them unique in their field. Well worth...Read full review »

First episode I’d listened to. Overall interesting podcast. But I’ve a major gripe with the last segment. The segment discussed if we compare this generation to the the year ‘87 then this generation is clearly better off. ‘87 is almost 40 years ago. When people say this generation is worse than...Read full review »

Insightful and articulate delivery from Chris and Jim. Interesting and independent thinking and perspectives which we need. I have been a fan and listener to every show since Chris and Jim started ‘the other hand’. The recently added loud blast of electric guitar at the beginning and end of...Read full review »

Chris / Jim Really enjoy the podcasts thanks. Chris you have said many times that rising interest rates would reveal weakness in the financial sector and with hindsight it’s not surprising that yet again it’s the banking sector that seem to be swimming in the all together. Today’s podcast, Feb. 10th 2023, is great. It is a joy to hear the perspective of a new generation through the voice of such an articulate young person. (Regardless of the subject at hand.) What a great initiative! Keep it going please.

Jim Power is a lackey for this FG government. He seems terrified of any real change happening in this country because he obviously happy with his bit. The scaremongering is unreal. Never any mention of that despite our record tax takes, our transport infrastructure is shambolic, child poverty and...Read full review »

I love this podcast. I discovered this podcast because Chris is a long time contributor to the stand podcast as is Jim Power. I started listening around summer 2022 and loved it. The Statler and Waldorf of economics. Jim Power and Chris Johns present economics in terms of probability rather than certainty and base their opinions on the actual data which they both take time to review. I never thought I’d be interested in the Irish economy but compared to where the UK is...Read full review »

This podcast came recommend to me and I can’t recommend this podcast enough now myself. Both Jim and Chris offer honest and brilliant insight into the economics of the world with a particular focus on Ireland and the UK.

The dulcet tones, razor-sharp wit and general brilliance of John and Jim result in a truly engaging pod. Listeners can look forward to a cocktail of serious political commentary and economic analysis along with a mere suggestion of satire. Keep up the great work, lads!

Jim and Chris succeed in making the dismal science of economics relevant and rewarding for the listener. Honesty and having a clear opinion is something I really value - especially when they are also well-able to make fun of themselves too. Fab. Patrick Harte
