Better All the Time
Every episode I think Kaner and Vibert have hit their stride. They've tested their limits, found their voice, expanded their skills. Until the next episode arrives and I realize I was wrong. They have so much more to show. Their growth and finesse in the form continues to expand. By the time of the third Juno Steel story, I found myself utterly riveted. Their performers and production are of tremendous quality. These are the kind of stories we want. Stories that take the old forms and make them our own. Stories deftly manipulating "genre and gender" into effortless, fresh, vibrant tales, inclusive but not strident, with a quiet insistence throughout that this is the way the world is. These are the people of the 21st century. They are looking forward and backwards, they have a new mastery of time and space, they are queer and disabled and enobled because of that. The Penumbra Podcast is worth sharing and supporting. This is the kind of art we should be making today, and that is the most important thing I can say about it. Bravo.Read full review »
