Thank goodness for the skip forward feature. These episodes are about 20-30 minutes of well-reported content and 15-20 minutes of ads. I understand the importance of advertising, but this is too much.

I love the podcast very informative. However I have NEVER listened to a podcast with so many commercials. I know commercials are part of it but this is excessive. I won’t be listening to anymore by this group because of it.

There is a huge problem with this show. I have the subscriber edition but I’m still hearing ads. This doesn’t occur with other shows on the iheart True Crime channel. Please fix this issue!

The ads don’t bother me if you don’t want ads pay for the service 🤷🏻‍♀️ what bothered me is the unnecessary information. When listening to investigative journalism podcasts you don’t need 4 seasons repeating the same information OVER AND OVER. Tell the story, this is ongoing so yes cover the in...Read full review »

Each episode should be roughly 20 minutes due to an insane amount of ads they are over 40 minutes. I listen to lots of podcasts and this was by far the worst listen ever for ads

I didn’t read the reviews before I began the podcast, I like to start each one with a clean slate. I came to leave a review today and what is see over and over is exactly what I encountered. The content is interesting, I like the host, but my goodness…SO MANY ADS. The first five minutes of every...Read full review »

Each episode is 40 minutes long but the first five minutes and the last five minutes are commercials and there’s two commercial breaks that are at least three minutes long. Add to that that most of the content of every episode is a recap of the previous episode or a preview of the next episode,...Read full review »

I’m not able to really follow the commentary and trial because there are soooo many commercial breaks. It’s too bad because it seems the reporting is thorough but the constant break to ads makes this listen too disjointed and hard to follow. I say “skip it.”

I’m a premium subscriber, why am I getting ads?

Can’t get into the story; just too many ads
L. Derome via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 08/19/24
I’ve listened to dozens of true crime series, but I won’t be finishing this one. It has clunky storytelling and the most ridiculous amount of ads I’ve ever heard. The story is told too piece meal, and I’ve stopped caring about what happens next.

So the first two seasons, really good pretty informative, deep dive all of that kind of stuff not that many ads it seems but then season 3&4 holy moly!! Sooo many ads. Too many filler episodes on non related subject matter as well. Sorry but just put out the content without needing so much...Read full review »

Great podcast. Never heard so many ads in one place.

The ads at the beginning and end are tolerable but I can’t with the interruptions. What would otherwise be an excellent podcast about a case that I am following is just too annoying to listen to.

The ads are truly excessive

There are better podcasts that review a lengthy investigation like this in a season of 6 episodes. Each episode has lengthy ads and repeats the same info over and over. Give us updates in episodes. Don’t review the entire case all over again each episode with only 1 or 2 new nuggets of info. HUGE...Read full review »

Good, thorough content but if I couldn’t skip the ads, I would never listen. The first- and last- 4 or 5 minutes of every episode is ads, with one or two 2-3 minute ad breaks during the episode.
Beck E via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/07/24
I can’t. The ads were absolutely excessive & some pitch or dialect coaching for the producer would be helpful. The content was monotonous & overly indulgent. There had to be a way to get to point in a much more concise presentation. I will never listen to anything produced by these folks.
Aurea L. via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/05/24
Good show but still has 6+ minutes of ads every episode even with a paid subscription. Ending is unfulfilling. Needed at least 1 more episode to tie it all together

Love this podcast, but had to drop 1 star because there’s an ad break every 15 minutes. Literally. I had to skip 2 ad breaks during my 15-minute break at work this morning. Kind of ruined the whole break for me. Just wanted to vibe out for 15 minutes and listen to my murder podcast, but had to...Read full review »

I think each episode might have 15 minutes of content. It has so many ads. I listen to a ton of podcasts. And many of them have commercials, but this is on another level. Love the actual content; but the ads….ugh way too much!! Have to forward in the beginning, the middle, and 3 or more minutes at the end! Get they need the sponsors but really it’s overkill.
Justmebel via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/16/24
I understand why podcasts need ads so it’s not the fact that they’re included. 6 minutes of skipping at the very beginning of the episode!? And 3 more ad breaks during the actual show? About 17 minutes worth per episode is excessive to me.
ErinnBogen via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/13/24
All in all, roughly two hours worth of information, broken down into several seasons of ads and sound effects. Don’t waste your time. There’s plenty other pods hosting this same story, with much less aggravation. Trash.

I love the podcast, but way too many ads and looks like most people have the same feedback!
Rhi_Roux via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 05/29/24
When you see the reviews “too many ads”, you’d think these would be edited. Nope. It’s a great story but I can’t get past the amount of ads in each episode. Can’t listen to it anymore. Enjoy your ad revenue.
Sarahqlou via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/18/24
If you skip past the first 5 minutes, skip through the 5 min ad breaks and skip past the final 6 minutes of ads… you’ll have about 11 minutes of podcast per episode!
Drenoanann via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/15/24
Lots of repeated sound bytes and retreading of previously covered ground. When that doesn’t fill enough time they vector off into unrelated crimes in the general area. Found myself skipping eps and reading the summary at the end.

Yeah, the ads are annoying. But they make this nifty little button that lets you skip past them. First 5 minutes - all ads. Last 5 minutes - all ads. More ads throughout. It’s very disruptive and disturbs the storytelling flow. Regarding the events, the loss of cockfighters is not a loss.

I thought these reviews are probably way too harsh, I am going to give this a shot. I was wrong. It’s a shame because I actually liked the podcast. This is a great podcast, but the ads are literally unbearable. There are 2 minutes of ads to start each episode, then 3 more ad breaks each lasting 4 minutes for a total of 14 minutes of the EXACT SAME ads for each 35-44 minute episode. So disappointing. I read the reviews and thought, how bad can the ads be? Well they ruin the flow and are too much for this podcast. I understand ads are needed. The story is good and well told, but I only can get thru two episodes before I bailed.

Way way too many commercials I almost just stopped listening and I did actually began looking for something better on another podcast. What made it especially annoying was the same ads over and over. So bad I would never now watch the podcasts advertised!!!!

The content and the actual podcast is interesting. But each podcast is half ads. It’s way too much. So much it turns you off on the podcast. And its a shame, as the producers do a good job of telling the story. They must be taking in the dough from the ad sales though.
Eric-Exist via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/06/24
20 minutes of ads for each 55 minute episode 🙄
PraiseB2Jebus via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/02/24
While it was worth my while to listen to learn about this tragedy in my home state, the fact that nearly half of each episode is ads is more than a little annoying. …find one of the numerous documentaries and 20/20-esk episodes that have been made on this case on any of the streaming services. Made it through 15 episodes. Am I mildly interested in finding out what happens? Yes. Is 10 minutes of show worth 10 minutes of ads? No. You can’t multi task while listening to this podcast as your thumb has to live on the skip button.

Want to enjoy the show. My god The Ads are copious to the point that it takes a lot away from the entire experience. I can’t even follow the story, there are so many GD ads. What a gross way to run a podcast. It’s like 8 minutes of quality podcast story, and 29 minutes of annoying, repetitive ads. There has to be a better way. Also, please look up the meaning of “quick,” as 4.5 minutes of ads is not a quick break.
Gigirlgogreen via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/15/24
Please explain why there are ads I. The paid subscriber version??? The 5 minute ads make it unbearable. I paid for the subscription that touts “ad free”. I’m genuinely wondering what gives??

So when you choose to listen to this just realize that the reported time of the episode should be about 12-13 minutes less if you take into account the ads. Each add break is about 3.5-4.5 MINUTES and it just really screws up the flow of the episode. If it weren’t for that the podcast would be...Read full review »
