Faultless content but mad sound levels
Excellent concept that really fills a gap for those who are interested in UK politics (and are therefore exasperated by it), with terrific guests so far. However, the dynamic range is so huge I have to ride the volume knob the whole way through (and it’s a long show). It's most noticeable when Forde and his interview subject are at vastly different levels, as was the case with Charles Clarke, but even within his pre-interview stand-up, you can get blasted with a sudden deafening punchline having cranked the volume up to hear the murmured set-up. All this could be solved with a couple of clicks by running the whole show through a Limiter. It’s just talk, so narrowing the dynamic range won't spoil anyone’s enjoyment (the way it might with a symphony), and would remove a significant barrier to enjoying the fabulous content of the podcast. Oh, and he could do with repeating the audience questions from the Q&A. Five stars for content, minus two for audio production (seeing as it’s such an easy fix.)Read full review »

More reviews of The Political Party
Very excitable guy who’s exceptionally passionate about politics asking questions to fascinating people - basically what this is. If you enjoy the first minute, you’ll enjoy every episode.

Matt Forde's podcasts are brilliantly funny and the guests also give insightful views on political machinations that the public never hear of.Read full review »
