“Good discussion, but there is less contrast between the two hosts than you might think. Both hosts are almost identical in thinking on most foreign policy and trade issues, and the "liberal" host is on the fairly conservative end end of the Democratic Party spectrum while the the "conservative" host is probably right in the middle of establishment conservatism with a libertarian bent, so I think there are voices that are missing out (progressive voice on the left, religious conservative on the right). Also the liberal host is significantly more informed, probably due to his profession. The conservative hosts view points tend to be more superficially based, though this might reflect the current anti-intellectual state of conservatism in general. If you want to get a solid sense of where establishment Democrats and establishment Republicans are coming this is exactly what you should be listening to. Most ridiculous thing I heard said on the pod cast was when the conservative host defended Congress and anti-government establishment Republicanism in general against the Trump phenomena by saying something like "Congress voted over and over again to eliminate Obamacare, what else would any Republican possibly ask for" so out of touch with the majority in his own party that doesn't see making useless votes over and over as a good thing and when actually likes most government programs on their own merits.”Read full review »
