This is a fantastic podcast that I have been listening to for well over ten years. Dazzling informative, Jeff Goldsmith does his deep dive homework with each interview and asks them challenging questions he knows the audience wants to hear. His magazine is great and his podcast is a writer’s...Read full review »

Jesus, Jeff talks a lot. Let the guest get a word in! Jeff is the one host who actually talks more than Quentin Tarantino.

We come here to learn about screenwriting not your irrelevant political views. Who are you?

Great guests but PLEASE let them actually speak! Whenever a guest starts to answer a question, Jeff immediately interrupts them with another question or comment. This happens several times throughout each of their answers and they never get to actually finish the thought they started with. It’s...Read full review »

In the past Jeff has done a great job speak to entertainers because they are entertainers (which is what writers are). The most recent episode really turned me off unfortunately. While the episode was about happenings in the 1960’s and I did enjoy hearing Sorkin yak about his process, I prefer...Read full review »

Every single question Jeff asks is followed by “Because…” where he further explains the question and gives possible answers. Almost always unnecessary. Please consider leaving out!

Jeff does his homework and then some, his guests are often shocked at just how prepared he is. The writer is often a second class citizen in hollywood but here the screenplay is king.

I’ve been going to Jeff Goldsmith’s Q&A’s in Hollywood since I moved here in 2006. I can’t count how many I’ve attended. And when I can’t attend, I listen to the podcast. He’s the best moderator in L.A. His Q&A’s are in depth, his questions are well researched and the conversations...Read full review »

The interviews always cover interesting content on the creative process and a BTS glimpse into a range of films, from indies to blockbusters. I always come away with a greater appreciation for their final product after getting to hear the writer/director talk about it.

As much as I love listening to writers talk about what they do, this podcast annoys me a bit... Jeff Goldsmith asks the same questions, no matter who he’s interviewing. Sometimes he has interviewed the person before, but still asks the same questions he did 2 years ago. His determination to...Read full review »

Review based purely on the Michael Moore episode. Problem is podcasts with terrific content that let themselves down with lousy audio. If you’re recording a live interview why not make sure you can record the event in a way which makes listening easy. Podcasts stand or fall by the audio quality.

I/we get it. You’ve got a magazine you’re promoting and yes, you want to promote it. But, when you’re cutting in the middle of a conversation with a terrible 3 minute sales pitch, you’re taking us out of it. Aside from that, solid interviews with great questions. Would give it 5 stars but, you...Read full review »

I have learned so much from the interviews Jeff coducts. He is very natural and gets good answers out of people. I kind of wish he would interview some of these people in a more intimate setting rather than on stage, but this is still great.

Jeff Goldsmith has a straightforward presentation that is perfect for writers just starting out or industry veterans. Interviews are accessible, insightful and interesting regardless of your experience with the craft.

While I enjoy most of the interviews with screenwriters, Jeff Smith veers into fanboy territory too much. It diminishes the quality of the show.
