Interesting but…
…the editing for the endings of each episodes is really poorly done. I understand the need and desire to have people pay to subscribe and help support the costs of a podcast. I really do. However, cutting off the end of the FREE episodes without any real wrap up or conclusion is not a great way to entice people to go pay for the ending. It’s a little frustrating that the host doesn’t wrap the episodes beyond saying we can hear the rest of the interview if we pay Slate website money. The least they could do is professionally wrap the free eps and advise there is more content available behind their paywall. It’s unfortunate they chose this route because it is otherwise a really interesting podcast! I love that each season focuses on significant events of one year in history, it’s fascinating. But it’s infuriating to have an episode end in the middle of an interview, and in now way motivates me to pay.

I love Josh Levin’s work and this is no exception. Love the interviews, the pace and the narration.

Very interesting topic but narration leads a lot to be desired. And his timeline is all over the place. Too much jumping back & forth.
