Discovered this a few weeks ago, and quickly devoured the back catalogue! I nearly didn’t listen to it at all, the title (I get why it is what it is) and the artwork really evoke ideas of Hollywood gossip, which isn’t really my bag. I was pleasantly surprised to hear really in-depth technical...Read full review »

Came across this one by total accident but I’m obsessed. I’ve gone back to the beginning and listening from the start. I know Richard from the books (big fan) and TV and I’ve not heard of Marina but they’re both totally fabulous. The perfect mix of fascinating facts mixed with intelligent...Read full review »

Great listening but Marina needs to slow down at times. Very often she even sounds like she’s running out of breath during her one hundred miles a minute monologues. I often have to rewind and replay at slower speed to make sense of what she’s saying. Have a word with her please Richard.

I love everything about this podcast! Love from Denmark

I have never reviewed a pod before although listen to lots (mainly comedy). This is genuinely the most fascinating and entertaining pod every single week. I could listen to these two for hours, especially Richard when he casually drops little career titbits that blow your mind. Love it and cannot...Read full review »

Great show but sometimes it’s hard for Marina to get a word in edgeways, which is a shame because she has great insights and is funny. Richard is growing on me but still too many long monologues go on a bit and…too much Gladiators (sometimes feel like I’m stuck in my 1980s childhood).

Here a Guardian writer who was born into nobility (nepo kid) tries to sell you a credit card. You could not make it up. I could listen to Richard all day…

Love everything Richard is on and admire Marina’s writing. Her book is fabulous btw. Between them, they are encyclopaedic in their knowledge of the entertainment industry. I especially like the Q&A updates on Thursdays. Marina’s obvious plummy tone might grate with some but what she brings to...Read full review »

This is essential listening, with a broad range of equally fascinating subjects discussed in a humorous but always insightful way. Genuinely thought provoking and eminently entertaining. Highly recommended.

One of the most thought provoking and entertaining pods of the week, the hosts are exceptional and always paint the picture of what goes on behind the scenes with such entertaining detail.

I find it tricky to find new podcasts that click with me and so far this one has.

I just wish Osman just learnt to listen ! He always interrupts while Marina is talking with his comments. It becomes a hard listen.

Makes me wonder how literate are some of the people who work for the podcast. They have spelled ´intact’ as ´in tact’ in one of the episode’s description. Immediately, this makes an unpleasant impression.

The BBC cravenly advertise their own shows on their own service. People are bullied under threat of criminal penalty, to purchase a licence to fund them, if they want to watch television. Regardless of whether they ‘consume’ the BBC. That’s not the behaviour of ‘Aunty’ It’s the behaviour of an...Read full review »

Am loving this podcast as it ranges over anything and everything to do with the entertainment industry. Brilliant, informed and humorous too. I welcomed - at last it feels- the warm words for the BBC. It has been criticised in the past for not being rigorous enough with their budget but this is...Read full review »

I don’t normally review podcasts, because why bother? You can just push play and see what you think. But for this one, I wanted to drop a note. It’s like a half hour where two friends babble on about a subject they both love, and know a whole lot about. Often revealing interesting tidbits about...Read full review »

I absolutely love this podcast, the pairing, the topics, the banter. My only criticism is that they are both so excited that they speak really quickly and constantly stumble trying to get their words out (so many ums, ahhs and faltering) making it difficult to listen to. If they slowed it down...Read full review »

Twas good to hear you talk about the BBC and its profound reach and importance in your cultural lives there and abroad for English speakers. The more I listen, the more I enjoy this podcast. At first I thought it might just be sort of frivolous chat, but it goes deeper than that, making it very interesting to me. I like getting the ‘inside’ perspective on, eg. TV or newspaper happenings. The banter between the presenters is fab -...Read full review »

I love the work of both writers and enjoy the podcast. I’m quite used to different British accents, but there are times when the hosts get animated and speak a bit too fast. I find myself rewinding the stream.

I’ve really tried to get into this but just cannot bear another minute of listening to Marina Hyde babbling away in an excitable flood of unfinished sentences and industry lingo. Richard tries to hang on to her coattails but it makes uncomfortable listening. I’ll stick to reading her in print.

Please don’t do the ads yourselves! If you need sponsors, let them insert your own commercials. Banging on about Saudi money in film etc on the one hand and then gleefully advertising the community-destroying behemoth that is Airbnb on the other. Deeply disappointing.

What a gem of a show this is. Richard’s knowledge of a world few know about is incredible. Genuine informative stories and cheeky gossip. He is a unique personable talent. Thankfully they’re talking a little slower now. At one point it was so fast I checked settings.

In Dragons’ Den style, this is a fascinating podcast, really interesting and entertaining. However the amount of ads just had my blood boiling, far too many and for that reason I’m out. I will check back in a few months to see if there’s less ads.

I genuinely look forward to this dropping every Tuesday and Thursday. Even topics I wouldn’t think I’m interested in completely consume my attention. My only bugbear is Richard’s overuse of the phrase “by and large” which makes at least one appearance per episode. It gives me the ick.
