“The intro and outro to the latest episode (with Francesca Stavrakopoulou) perfectly sum up what this podcast is all about but here’s how I came to discover and enjoy the podcast. I stumbled across this programme by searching for Richard Ayoade (whose comedy, films and books I enjoy) and was pleasantly surprised to come across such an intimate, insightful, spiritual and intellectual conversation. Since, I’ve listened to many episodes and, most of the time, I’ve not known anything about the guest beforehand. Whilst you might be mistaken for believing the show needs more well known guests, I’ve realised that this is part of the beauty of the podcast. Each week, there is a deep and meaningful conversation with an intelligent person who I’ve usually never even heard of. It’s very humbling to know how many interesting people there are in corners of the world I have no awareness of. Many of these people have opposing views to my own but the conversations are not combative or argumentative. There’s no ego or agenda or polarisation. Each episode is just a pleasant conversation that shows the world to be a lovely and diverse place, full of people that have differing opinions and experiences that matter and are important. I’d recommend this podcast to anyone and there’s no need to scroll through the episodes and find someone you’re interested in hearing from - for me, this podcast is an antidote to the self validating eco chamber I often find myself in.”
