Bad Poetry
I enjoyed most of your conversation with Jim Hollis. I was particularly hearted by his comment about bad poetry. I also enjoyed Jim's comments about Josef Maria Rilke. One dream I'll never forget was of a very well known poetess that dreamt of giving Rilke a manicure. Caring for the hands of Rilke. That made a huge impression on me. Particularly since I admired some of her poems so much. I have no facality or special gift for langauge. But i like to think a have a pretty good ear. To see so many Black People get together to celebrate special gifts. I love watching dribbling and work under the basket. It's wonderful to see Mothers and Wives that support these proud Black Men. I can't help but think about the Civil Rights Movement of 1960's. I can't help but think of Gwendolyn Brooks or Ernie Banks. I give thanks for being alive while watching these virtuoso's .
