“I truly enjoyed the first season, and totally ignored the little irritants on the assumption that things would improve over time. And since the print version seems, from the reviews, inferior, I wanted the full story. I loved the characters... Loved the premise. Awesome.
Listening to the second season I got a bit pickier. I thought, If I'd paid for this, I'd be less than pleased simply with the quality of the production. Too many retakes that aren't edited out, a tinny sound when heard through earbuds, a few too many mispronunciations, and occasional awkward phrasing that feels like some sections were read cold. There should be less pause between the words in the opening title and more consistency with "paragraph break" pauses. The theme, which seemed appropriate for the first book, seemed a bit much in the second; it didn't fit the mood.
I almost gave up... But decided to give the third book a go. WOW! Much smoother production, less tinny treble, new and ideal theme music... I am SO glad I stuck with it. I really do love this series.
I find the serialized format entertaining - it reminds me if the old time radio dramas. The characters are largely very likable, and I'm personally not distracted by a large cast. Narration makes it easy to differentiate characters. Love the inside jokes... The whole Princess Bride riff had me howling in WWL.
Since the published form apparently significantly curtailed backstory and left out some characters I liked, I'm pleased to stick with this version. The sections written by Mercedes Lackey do have her characteristic flavor; Steve Libbey needs to resist the urge to use the phrase "pregnant pause" too often, but shows promise. Taken as a complete novel, it's a bit confusing. Taken as a series of connected standalone short stories - we're golden.
Can't wait for my next download!”Read full review »

“The storyline is wonderful and the characters entertaining, but the recording quality has gone down considerably after the long hiatus. Whoever is editing this podcast needs to do a much better job, at least remove the mistakes/repeated lines from the recording and make sure the music isn't...”Read full review »

“Amazing podcast...One of the best I've encountered. Love the international flavor...Please produce more. There's a LOT of unfinished plot lines to wrap up and so many great characters to revisit.”Read full review »
