One of the best
SEWERS OF PARIS is easily one of the best gay podcasts available on iTunes. Actually it's one of the best regardless of sexual preference. Host Matt Baume has come up with an inspired "hook" for his show - interviewing gay men from all walks of life about the movies, music, TV shows or books that influenced their early lives. Baume is a smart, witty, comfortable interviewer establishing an easy-going atmosphere that allows his guests to open up in interesting and surprising ways. His enthusiasm at learning things matches that of the listeners. I binged all the episodes and the cumulative effect is fantastic. This is oral history of the first order but I almost hesitate to call it "important" (which it is) because it might scare off people from this delightfully entertaining podcast. The host and those who are already fans might be the only ones to get this but here goes - I knew Vito Russo (the creator of CELLULOID CLOSET and subject of the great documentary, VITO) and he would approve of this show wholeheartedly. Subscribe to this and listen to each and every episode. You won't be sorry!Read full review »

Sewers of Paris is a delightful discovery, via Slate. Gently interrogative interviews and a fine frankness. This is full gay, and not merely homosexual-themed. Gets my unqualified vote. xx cb

Never thought I'd find a podcast discussing my favorite Latvian Eurovision entry ("Cake to Bake") and its relation to gay culture, but here we are. Matt is smart, asks the right questions, and cares about the right things. Glad to have this gay voice out there (translation: YAAASSS...Read full review »
