If it’s a bookshelf and reading a book to you, you are supposed to listen through the book right? Then it’s sleepy bookshelf and they have done such a good job and I fall asleep so fast. You gonna admit the irony here and laugh about it! Hahah don’t get me wrong I love this show. Just there goes...Read full review »

I love this podcast! It always does the trick when I can’t sleep! Your voices on the Anne stories are incredible. I have listened to each over and over! 5 stars for quality I was sad the last little bit when third party ads returned to would startle me back awake. Totally get the need but their...Read full review »

I used to enjoy listening to this podcast. The host has such a soothing/calming voice. I hadn't listened for a bit & just came back to it. What an unpleasant surprise to find out that there are now extremely loud ads at the beginning. It is a very unpleasant jolt & ruins the...Read full review »

Love this! Helps me fall asleep and relax next to a snorer🫤. This is what I’ve been looking for for a long time. Really soothing voice sends me to sleep fast, helps my mental health, because I really need my sleep! Thank you! 😌😊

It’s so hard to find something to sleep to. I used to listen to Get Sleepy but most of their content is paid. Other podcasts have too many ads or just are designed for sleep. I’ve never made it through an entire episode of this podcast before falling asleep! Love this so much. Instead of waking...Read full review »

Diehard listener, to the point where I downloaded episodes to listen to while I camped in the wilderness, BUT I have to say I am a bit bummed with this new 39 part story. As someone who listens nightly I’ve always appreciated how quickly the stories are switched out especially if I am not loving...Read full review »

I’m halfway through listening to Heidi and I’m loving it! Elizabeth’s voice is so soothing and her character voices are great. I’ll definitely be back for more after finishing Heidi.

I initially rated this podcast one star after they experimented with third-party ads. Although I don’t want to say 100% they’re gone for good, I have picked the podcast back up and haven’t had an issue with any loud ads. Elizabeth’s voice is perfect for these stories and I LOVE the unique...Read full review »

Loving the story and reading. But the narrator got too carried away when reading Vilette, episode 8 during 43:18, used a much higher pitch and louder voice. That jarred me from my sleep and shook me awake. So here I am, very displeased. I know I am now going to have a tired day ahead. Please...Read full review »

Loving it ! Elizabeth is amaaazing at bringing the characters to life with different voices . This story, which I’d never heard of before, is written with so much description that you are transported into another time and world . So far, it’s a world which makes my bed seem a cosy and safe place...Read full review »

First off, I think the horrible loud obnoxious ads are gone, so thank you and I’ll give you 5 stars, because…I have to get up for work super early so when I wake up @ 1 or 2 am, I get really anxious to get back to sleep. I’m not here to sleep but to crack on more classical literature while I work or sew. I do up the recording speed, but even then the host’s voice is so soothing and calming. I have been listening to this podcast since the very first episode, Elizabeth’s voice is so calming and her voice acting is so good, it seems like there are multiple people talking but it’s really just the narrator. Thank you for all the wonderful stories. I have a recommendation, what about reading Pippi by Astrid Lindgren or H. C. Andersen fairytales or Rubber Tarzan by Ole Lund Kirkegaard. Lots of live from Denmark.

Sometimes my mind is too busy for falling asleep to mere white noise. This podcast is exactly what I need. It reads stories aloud, so it occupies my mind, but it’s read slowly and gently, which makes me sleepy. I never finish an entire episode before falling asleep. The sleepy bookshelf has been my go to sleep podcast for years. Until now. The loud ads inserted at the beginning of every episode are ridiculous. I stopped listening to other sleep podcasts because of the same thing. Time to find a new go to ☹️

Can’t you just read the ads unobtrusively instead of playing the loud commercially produced ads and waking us up, thus defeating the whole ostensible purpose of this podcast?

Up until very recently, this podcast was perfection. The perfect length, the perfect subject matter, the perfect narration, Elizabeth even did fun little voices for all the characters. It was great! Jolted out of a deep sleep by a loud obnoxious ad that wasn’t there before? You just lost a longtime fan. Adding in loud, annoying ads to a sleep app where there were none before is cruel. No one buys anything from a podcast advertiser that interrupts a sleep app. You could have added quiet ads....Read full review »

There are LOUD ads at the end of each episode. I assume this is a tactic to get you to pay. Yes, this podcast puts me to sleep. It’s great for that, in fact! Elizabeth’s voice is so soothing that my partner is usually asleep before the end of the recap of the previous episode. I’m asleep shortly after. She has set the standard we judge sleep stories by and so far no one else has been able to beat the Sleepy Bookshelf.

I want to like this podcast, but it is hard to listen to. The speaker’s voice is deep, and she has a heavy accent that as an American, I find hard to understand.
