Today’s episode is with Daniel Schofield – a British designer based between Copenhagen and London. Daniel is one of the UK’s most promising designers, and has already won various awards, such as the Design Guild Mark and the Elle Decoration British Design Award for Furniture.
Often found sketching on a scrap of paper, Daniel’s background is in art, graphic design and carpentry. This evolved into a passion for design, culminating in a degree in furniture and product design at Sheffield Hallam University.
Daniel's tutor at University was Roger Bateman, who put him in touch with Coexistence's Managing Director, Dan Gay, who after graduating, worked as Roger’s design assistant. Dan subsequently offered Schofield a part-time role at Coexistence, which opened his eyes to the furniture industry.
Aiming to create timeless and useful products, Daniel focuses on solving problems and finds beauty in simplicity. He places emphasis on what is essential, and aims to create charming objects you’ll want to keep for a long time.
