“I love audio drama, but I'm very picky, especialy with sci-fi, so it means a great deal to say that this show is now competing with Wolf 359 as one of my all-time favorites. I was hooked by episode 1's clever balance of character and plot (and excellent acting) and delighted to find the next 4 episodes were just as strong, maintaining focus while expanding the cast. I enjoy all five main characters (especially Violet, Sana and Krejjh, who truly has one of the best character introductions in modern sf), and its imaginative use of the audio medium (most obviously in the credits). This podcast reminds me of the Star Trek I grew up with (TNG & DS9); it includes characters motivated by curiosity, a captain who cares about her crew's emotions, explorations of human diversity, interesting relationships between different alien species, and an ongoing argument about the value of hope. I particularly love the way it centers the experiences of women, people of South and East Asian descent, and same-sex attracted, trans, and non-binary people without being either too facile or too clunky; the characters sound like real people trying to figure out how to work together across vast differences in politics and experiences. Also it's one of the few great podcasts whose 1st episode is also a great entry point, and easy to recommend.”Read full review »
