Great humour, good debates. Like inside baseball. Addictive

At its best this show is an excellent and entertaining analysis of politics in Canada. Other times it’s 3 guys who use the podcast as a soapbox and still think that “lol straight white men” is a clever punchline. Not something I take offense to, as I’m 1/3 of those things so no accusations of...Read full review »

Before you commit to this podcast, ask yourself: is this really something I want to hitch my wagon to?

3 young guys in Canada that have a western Canadian tinge to their accent and vocabulary yet don’t support Pierre Poilievre. Kind of schizophrenic to listen to.

I’m so glad I found this podcast. Totally worth the Patreon subscription. Much better than West of Centre. (There, Carter - happy?)

Annalise is a great addition. Please keep her even when Zain is back.

I don’t know how these guys put out content so prolifically. Either they don’t have day jobs or don’t have personal lives. But their overachieving is to the listener’s benefit - each and every episode is worth a listen, even the ones about Alberta politics for those of us who don’t live in Alberta

I know that it’s going to be a good day when a new episode drops. Nothing makes me laugh out loud like this group. Brought me back to an interest in politics when I thought nothing would drag me back.

No need to work in government or politics to enjoy the show. Opening the curtain behind the scenes on political communications, decisions and strategies- makes you feel like an insider in a super nerdy club.

This review is being composed under undue psychological strain and duress. The hosts of the pod regularly express both unwavering disdain for the listeners, and a nearly nonsensical desire for positive reviews for the podcast. This review is emotional blackmail. But the good news is, the stars...Read full review »

Great show, wish there would be a Manitoba episode once in a while. As a Manitoba resident I also would be interested in hearing about SK and BC occasionally. Ontario and Quebec we hear lots about in general news anyway and Atlantic Canada, let's be honest, is too far away and with a...Read full review »

While listening to this podcast my wife commented that some of the tactics described by Carter were horrible. I had to remind her that this was a political strategy podcast and not kindergarten play time. Losers don’t govern - they complain. I love this podcast.

This podcast makes me laugh, makes me mad and always makes me think! You will not regret listening to Hogan and Carter along with the host of the day Velji or Klingbeil.

I very much appreciate the political content, but the initial banter is cringe making. I try to scrub through the first 10 minutes until the adults enter the room. When it is good, it is very very good
Tangled garden via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 01/25/23
These three make for a great hour of insight and entertainment except Klingbeil reminds me how old I am. Carter and Corey thankfully comfort me with ape appropriate references. Good stuff - thanks for not taking yourself too seriously!

ADQ
Love this show, loved the episode from Oct 4…but I think on your discussions you skipped the ADQ which I think should be part of the evolution history of the CAQ

….but Patreon doesn’t like me. Declines my card (no one else does!!) and doesn’t let me support you. I’ve seen a lot of online posts of people complaining who have this same issue with Patreon generally. Have you heard from others trying to support the Strategists?
Nessyvan via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 09/07/22
These guys are the best out there. I enjoy how they roast each other and I laugh a lot. But they all know what they are talking about and it is Gold for a political geek like myself.

What? Their mommy‘s didn’t let them swear when they were little and so they decided to swear throughout every podcast episode? The discussion is good and the knowledge is wide. But the profanity is just a turn off. There’s no need for it, but they seem to enjoy it. I don’t.

Corey Hogan and Zain Velji are always on point with sophisticated analysis with an inside perspective on political strategy. Carter is possibly the best out of everyone, but he chose not to provide an archive of every episode? Why not provide the first 900 episodes on here? Carter needs to...Read full review »

I can’t wait for the next podcast because each one is informative but also entertaining. I also like how they don’t hold back on their views.

I listen to a lot of political podcasts and read many opinion pieces. Regardless, each time I listen to the Strategists, they come up with insightful views that identify what’s really driving political decisions and events around us. Highly recommended!

Why are there only 5 stars on this thing? These guys just keep getting better and better. One quibble. On their Apple podcast page, they’re rated as “clean,” but it’s hard to tell since this is a podcast and you can’t see them.

Great job! I think you all should dress in suits more often. I heard a rumour that if you dress in a suit and check in with flair airlines they almost always bump you to first class.

Cory is informative, Carter entertaining and Zain somehow keeps them both on track.

Insightful (Hogan)and entertaining (Carter). Great facilitator (Velji).

I usually fall asleep if the episode is more than 60 minutes. I like the calm measured debate and how they take headlines down from hysteria by reminding us of context, history, and meaning.

But I’m tempted to lower it to 4 because Carter keeps floating the idea that Charest could be the next leader of the federal conservatives. I’m hoping he’s joking. Everything you guys say makes sense, except that. Charest will never be successful in the west. Please, tell me you’re joking.

Let me start by mentioning Stephen. Okay, that is done. On a scale from 1-5, I rate the show an A+!

I love this podcast! Although beware, I listened to it at night and then had a dream that Zain needed a ride to the hospital because he had consumed to much helium. This is more of a day listen.

Thanks to Carter this podcast gets 5 stars. Zain & Corey should do their research on the AFL; being unprepared to properly respond to Carter’s insightful AFL analysis is unacceptable. Carter’s brilliance bringing pro sport into political discussion only grows the podcast. Shame on you...Read full review »

Engaging, funny yet serious at the same time. Bombastic Stephen Carter strategists with a more mellow, yet insightful, Corey Hogan, both kept in line, as best he can by, Zane.

Cant say enough good things about this podcast. Great in-depth analysis of the news from a political strategy perspective without creepy corporate sponsors. Makes me proud to be a Calgarian.

Host Zain Velji, together with political operatives Cory Hogan and Dominic Cummings, discuss the Oscar award winning movie “Dave” on a weekly basis.

These guys are cracked! So much shouting, which is how I feel every time I think about politicians. Great to laugh about topics instead of just crying about topics 😭

The least boring means of becoming politically engaged. The cast - Three Stooges. The content - Nuanced analysis. The delivery - Informed dialogue.

This is the only political podcast I am loyal to. I have listened to Peter Mansbridge and Stephen Carter blows him out of the water. Keep it up Stephen!

This is really a 4.5 star rating (come-on Apple). Despite occasionally overindulging in what I’ll call “bro repartee,” I keep listening every week because they manage to stir my intellectual pot. If I may offer one suggestion, it’s that the hosts examine and reflect on the extent to which they...Read full review »
