“Like a lot of the other reviews, I agree that the start point seems positive. A journalist seeking to educate herself on the subject, with a seemingly open mind. Overall, the perspective doesn’t seem to lean in any particular direction but is more about fact finding and pretty simplistic observations for most of the podcast. But it takes a noticeable turn in the 2-3 final episodes, where prominence is given to people who are clearly critical of trans people without any challenge or balance from alt perspectives. Like the mother who is disgusted by the thought of her daughter becoming a boy or Hadley Freeman, who is gender-critical. It’s important to share these perspectives but the tone seems to shift as we don’t hear from other people, such as parents who have found the experience at the Tavi a positive one (the report they mention says that most people found the experience a good one). I’m sadly left with a feeling that the journalist believes being trans is something that is pathological and can be treated.”
