A Worthy Podcast for the Worthiest of Television Programs
It didn't take long for me to feel like this podcast was going to be an excellent treatment of what, in my opinion, is one of the top five television shows in the history of the medium. Tom's nostalgia for the Twilight Zone is something I can easily relate to, and his treatment of the material is spot on. I have such a strong appreciation for the horror/sci-fi/weird/fantasy spectrum of storytelling, both in terms of it's endless possibilities for exploring the darker aspects of life but also as a genuine art form. Tom treats this material with the perfect respect for all aspects of the show's presentation. He analyzes the twist endings and fantastical flourishes that the Twilight Zone is so famous for, but he also delves deeper into the allegorical nature of the show and explores the metaphors that Rod Serling employed so brilliantly (for the most part). Tom also discusses the production, from the use of setting and dialogue to the actors' performances in such a expert manner. The production of this podcast is superb, and Tom more than meets the difficult challenge of handling this material that is very special to me, as it is to millions of others. If you are a fan of the Twilight Zone, and are interested in exploring your favorite show in more depth, subscribe to this podcast. I simply do not think that this could be done better than Tom has done thus far. Thanks for the great work! I look forward to each and every new episode.Read full review »
