Fantastic insight into the creative process
Absolutely brilliant podcast, which offers the listener insights into the lives of people who work in the creative industries. This isn't about star actors dropping names and bigging up their latest film: you can get that anywhere, and, let's face it, that's pretty dull. What this is is an intimate and meaningful conversation about what lives these people have led, what drives them in their work and otherwise, what neuroses and failures they suffer with, and what it means to be someone whose work often puts them at the forefront of fame - and the personal and professional pitfalls and success they may have because of it. Host Craig Parkinson, himself no stranger to these processes given his own successful acting career, is a fantastic interviewer: warm (with the most lovely radio voice) and inviting, and gently persuasive in getting his interviewees to reveal their inner thoughts. They have an intimate and friendly discussion, devoid of the usual PR and plugging, and this offers the listener a rich and yet totally-down-to-earth context to learning about these people's lives. The result is often funny, frequently filthy, and also deeply moving. What comes across most is the humanity of both Craig's empathic nudging, and of his interviewee's being incredibly open with what they share with him. It's so accessible, it feels like you're in the room with them both, drinking a cup of tea, and chatting along. Anyone who works as an actor, writer, director, artist or anything in the creative industries will relate to and enjoy this podcast, but it also offers an amazing insight to those that have no connection to the arts at all. Just a thoroughly enjoyable hour or so of chatting - and well deserving of its 2018 British Podcast Award win.Read full review »

Vicky McClure and Jodie Whittaker interviews got me in as I love these ladies work. Now I’m hooked. Great podcast. I don’t know a lot of the guests but always interesting. Love the accents 😊

Fav so far Vicky McClure. Just about to listen to the legend of Jonjo O’Neill. Also I was very moved by Susan Lynchs’ podcast. Keep up the great work.
