An extremely important, yet overlooked, topic. Kudos to Charlie Scudder for excellence in research and reporting.

This is a wild ride. It’s disgusting how she was used as a pawn in a much bigger game allowing a murderer to walk free. This story is how corruption seeps into the cracks in the pavement and trips up powerful men.

This is such an important story to be told about the vulnerable community of seniors not receiving the protection they deserve. Not to mention, the production, the reporting, and the score for this pod are all top notch! Can’t wait for the rest of season two.

This is an excellent podcast!! Once you start, you will be hooked. So well done!! I grew up near Corsicana and remember this murder when I was a child. So inspired by the producers and their team for remembering this precious life and trying to bring justice to Shelley. I pray this podcast moves...Read full review »

The lady has the best voice I’ve ever heard on a podcast. Excellent reporting. My heart breaks for the man who married the victim’s daughter. For her too. She probably had the best man as a partner through life. She picked well considering everything. Wish them well.

I read /listen to a lot of True Crime and there are so many sad stories and every victim deserves justice regardless of who they are or how much money or influence the potential suspects or perpetrators have but there is something that gets in a lot of our claws when someone of means seemingly...Read full review »

One of the better unsolved (or should I say unresolved) true crime podcasts! Hope this podcast stirs things up in Navarro County and an indictment finally brought. I am a Dallas native, but grew up going to Cedar Creek, so this story hits close to home.

I love how the hosts tell this very sad story. It’s intriguing but with a personal tone. Carol has the best voice. As for the story itself, I am appalled at the blatant corruption! I feel the most sorry for Shelly’s 2 little girls, growing up without their mother. It is such a travesty.

I thought this was the best podcast I have heard in a very long time. I was in HS in Athens when all this was happening. Unreal how many crooked people pull off so much all around us. I’m hoping this case stays open and gets solved. There are so many folks that still need to be interviewed.

The investigation is great, I like the hosts voice’s but sometimes when they are recording phone conversations it sounds like literally everyone has a lisp. It’s not all the time but I can’t not hear it now.

I agree with a previous review. The son-in-law is solidly a good, genuine person. Really admirable he stood up to the truth.

Great podcast, but can we talk about Carol Dawson’s voice??? AMAZING!!! I think I’d listen to anything she did…off now to see if I can find any other podcasts.

Very impressed with those willing to speak out, particularly the son in law. Character matters even in environments where it seems like money and influence always win. Well done.

Ive listened to hundreds if not thousands of different podcasts episodes. The podcast that ranks number one for me this year has to be The Unforgotten. Texas true crime at its finest, Carol Dawson has the best narrative voice & Wes Ferguson ties it all together to perfection. I also listened...Read full review »

I hope this podcast leads to justice in this case. It is a travesty that the case hasn’t been resolved already.

Truly gripping journalism. The Jake episode blew me away. So sad for Shelley’s family and her two daughters. Thanks for telling her story.

I grew up roughly 30 minutes away from Edgerton, OH and it’s sad that I’ve never heard about her or anyone I kno for that matter. I know this case is out of Texas, but I feel like it should be well known around the area since this is where she’s from. This is heartbreaking and just awful. Thank...Read full review »

Listening to this podcast has been unsettling to say the least. Justice for Shelly is the most important outcome to hope for with the investigation and this story. I must say for myself, someone who lived in Corsicana in the 70’s and 80’s knowing some of the key people …it is chilling to hear....Read full review »

I live near there and I remember when this all occurred. Had many friends in law enforcement during that time and all of the events were a travesty. Thanks for explaining some of the misconceptions and attempting to bring some justice to the victim!

Wanted to thank all hands that are in on this podcast and the genuine efforts made to redeem the life of Shelley & give her the justice she and her family deserve! Also, great history lesson for Corsicana. The news they don’t want to be heard!!

Carol and Wes have really done their homework. They are clearing up a lot of untruths and rumors that we’re all over my hometown. If you love true crime it’s worth a listen. Also nothing wrong with the truth…it’s an opportunity for redemption, forgiveness, and an opportunity for justice.

Totally gripping—a whole other side to the 25,000-person town of Corsicana (home of Cheer). Because of Carol’s roots in the city, she’s investigating it like only a local could.
KT Bird2024 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 07/23/24
Seriously boring and is clearly funded and put together by people who are- in Carol’s own words, “obsessed” with the Watkins. Gross and a complete witch hunt.
