Finally understanding
My father,PFC Loren Shiflett, Co "B", 4th Amored replacement battalion, rarely spoke of his experiences during the war. He spent January of 1945, in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge and later on moved through into Germany and Czechoslovakia. I finally understand why he was reluctant to share his experiences, the emotional trauma he and all the others endured was something he didn't want to re-live. Ken Burns has captured the emotion, of what this war was all about.
