The host is a jarring element of a good show
It’s occurred to me for years now to come and write a review of this show just to question the strategy of placing Olly Mann as the host. The style of the show needs a more relaxed moderator. He’s on a totally different wavelength to that which the show’s format of interested and curious discussion is trying to ferment. I find his presence so obtrusive that I only bother to listen to about a third of the episodes, which is a shame. Even if he’s one of those marmite Jeremy Clarkson-esque divisive public figures, which by reading previous reviews he seems to be, I still don’t understand why that would make him a good host for this type of thought-provoking discussion. When someone else fills in for him it’s almost a perfect show. Interestingly I heard him on a radio 4 show and found him fine there.

More reviews of The Week Unwrapped
considering how even handed The Week magazine is I was disapointed with this podcast. It is very left leaning and has a stink of S.J.W.

Really useful to get easily-digestible round-ups each episode like this - like getting a dense news digest in your inbox just when you need it.

It's so nice to have a news podcast that reports on something other than the one or two stories that all other news outlets are obsessed with. And they report fairly and honestly -- including challenging each other, so we don't just get one side of the story.Read full review »
