surprising, funny and deeply sensible
Not many people know this because everybody just uses dictionaries online these days, but if you look up “humane” in the recent editions of Webster’s New World Dictionary, there is actually a picture of this podcast. That’s thanks to host/creator Joe Streckert. He is deeply and broadly knowledgeable, eclectic in interest and often funny (though occasionally indulgent, which fits in fine here). But more than anything, I can’t imagine a more humane historical tour guide than Streckert. His opinions are precisely chosen and subtly, concisely expressed. It makes the podcast a joy to listen to each week.

I love Weird History! Always informative and fun. Always entertaining and odd - it's how history class should have been in grade school. Stories are told with passion, heart, and humor. Also the Italian Facism series is shaping up as an honest-to-goodness masterpiece.Read full review »
