Hit and miss
At its best, the show can be witty and informative on a wide range of subjects. Unfortunately, the narrator often feels the need to inject his own liberal ideology, which detracts not only from the historical analysis but also takes away from the enjoyment of what the podcast should be-history presented in a objective way. As the most recent example, the narrator felt compelled to allege racism, misogyny and xenophobia within the first two minutes of his discussion regarding author HP Lovecraft. This says more about the author’s view of the world than it does about the subject of his podcast.

Just listened to the one about racism in Fascist Italy, and it was very good. There was a good overview for the casual listener, but all the facts and details were also there to satisfy a deeper look.
