Rawan Arraf on International Justice in Australia
The problem with the Arab-Israeli conflict is, not least, that everyone who engages in debate on the subject takes sides. Checkpoints are the result of suicide bombing; suicide bombing is the result of land misappropriated from Palestinians, which is an attempt to create ‘facts on the ground,’. That, in turn, is the result of the refusal of Muslims, Palestinians and Hamas in particular, to accept the status quo (Israel’s existence.). No people will quietly accept their annihilation if they can help it and Israeli Jews are no exception. Going back to pre 1948 is, therefore, not an option. The Muslim world needs to accept that those hated ‘dhimmis’ are there to stay. Hamas needs to revise its charter that calls for Israel’s annihiliation and finally, both sides need to make concessions. That will not happen so long as one-sided discussions like this one continue to happen (on either side.)

Thank you so much for this episode. I hope it creates greater awareness in Australia of the situation facing the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

A joy to listen to. Covering current and relevant subject matter, the wigs never fail to teach me something. My favourite day of the month is when the new episodes drop!
