Description
Join us wild-woman on an episode near and dear to our hearts. I am soooo excited to have one of my best friends on the podcast today: Loral I Barrie. Loral I and I have been friends forever and are both avid runners.  With everything that has been going on recently in the wake of Eliza Fletcher's murder while she was out for a morning run, we wanted to open a discussion into our own personal stories with this topic in the hopes of validating other women that feel angry, afraid, and unsafe doing what they love. We discuss our personal stories, why we feel women are targeted more than men when out on the streets, and tips to help keep you safe!  We would LOVE to know your thoughts on this topic. Please feel free to share your insights and personal stories with us as well as tag us if you enjoyed this episode.  Tips We Shared in the episode:  Follow your intuition  Be aware and observant of your surroundings Don't be outside with headphones in when its dark (put speaker on) Don't share solo travel plans and location with the public or on social media PRIOR to your trip Tell close family and friends your plans  Always have a phone on you If you have a bad feeling, call someone and stay on the phone until you know you are safe If you feel like you are being followed...mix things up and take frequent turns, try to go where other people are, remember details (license plates, clothing, etc.) Don't be afraid or hesitant to call 911 (or whatever your emergency number is. Also: know the emergency number of the country you are in!).  Take pictures and videos of the person or vehicle   Don't be afraid to not be nice to someone  Check your backseat!!  Pepper spray...taser....dog...
