“I was excited to check out the Wirecutter podcast. I did learn some new things about laundry but I was very put off by the delivery that felt like something from the 1950’s. Three excessively giggly ladies talking about women’s work, no men’s perspective because men don’t do laundry? They talked about blood stains because of their kids’ scrapes? The reality is that women menstruate, and pretending that isn’t the top reason a woman wants to get blood stains out of clothes is childish, outdated, and feels shame driven. The final straw for me, when one of them was asked their favorite recent purchase and she said the grill brush she bought her husband. He loves it so that’s her favorite thing??? So disappointing! Outdated stereotypes- she’s busy doing laundry while her man is firing up the grill.”
