Description
Join us on this inspiring episode of Women Offshore as we sit down with Women Offshore Ambassador Cassie Mead, a maritime professional who has made a remarkable journey from a small rural community in New Zealand to a successful career at sea. Cassie discovered her passion for the maritime industry at a young age through a youth development program on a Tall ship. Despite being one of the few females in her maritime school class, she pursued her dreams and obtained a Diploma in nautical science with an OOW Unlimited certification. Throughout her career, she faced challenges and barriers as a female in a male-dominated industry. From being the only woman in her deck and engine departments on multiple ships to navigating mental health boundaries, she persevered with resilience and determination. Her upbringing on a farm instilled invaluable hands-on skills and a strong work ethic that prepared her for the demanding maritime environment. Despite early challenges and limited opportunities for female seafarers, Cassie is proud to witness positive changes in the industry, with more women aspiring to join. Join us as Cassie shares her inspiring story, insights on overcoming obstacles, and the evolving landscape of women in the maritime industry.
