Life-saving
When I think of all the terrible books I might have read if Kait and Renata didn’t save me from myself…Thanks, ladies! In all honesty, I think I’ve read maybe three of the books they’ve ever discussed, but that makes no difference in my enjoyment of the conversations. And I’ve actually gotten some excellent suggestions from the reader’s advisory sections and from the yearly best-of episodes. I think they are still perfecting the balance of time and energy between plot summary, discussion, and features in each episode, but it’s gotten better and better over the time the podcast has been around and I think they’ve also gotten much more aware of the tone and content—it’s not always entertaining to just hear people talk about how much they hate something, but hearing people talk about why something was problematic and pushing back against first impressions or engaging in dialogue about the hatefulness of a thing can be very rewarding and funny. I’m looking forward to hearing the conversations get even more nuanced, thoughtful, and ridiculous as the podcast continues.

It's a great show. If you ever read any of these or had a friend who was pressuring you to read these, or just want to hear a couple funny smart women talk about terrible literature, check it out!Read full review »

I get great book reviews, and was stopped from reading Outlander ahead of time, so that's a win.Read full review »

In my dating app profile I say I like to listen to podcasts, and when matches ask what I listen to: I say this show. Cause it’s that awesome. I also thinks it’s great they did a crossover with ‘I don’t even own a television’ podcast.
