This is a wonderful podcast for writers! Hearing the conversations of these writers is truly amazing.

The guests are great! But the interviewer doesn’t follow interesting threads and he sounds like he can’t be bothered.

I have ADHD so listening to this episode let me understand that I am not the only one struggling to sit down and write. It also helped with some suggestions I could use.

3 instead of 4 (or maybe even 5) because of all the “of course”, “yeah”, “but” etc. Just get rid of that, pause would be much better. Really hard to listen to at times. So much so that I’m on the border of unfollowing. The content itself is good though.

I’ve listened to this podcast religiously for years now. I follow it and no matter what I do (follow, unfollow then follow again, etc) somehow it doesn’t appear on my listen now section, making me have to search for it nearly every time I listen to it. It’s very annoying. I blame the idiots...Read full review »

Thank you for a podcast which doesn’t take ages to listen to. It’s an opportunity to learn about the American publishing market because authors seem to be mainly from there. Even if the big boys on the internet make available novels or memoirs from the States, it is a different area and often...Read full review »

If you’re a writer (and even if you’re not), you’ll find listening to The Writer Files to be time well spent. Kelton Reid knows how to interview a writer and keeps it interesting.
Tess Enterline via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/12/23
The Writer Files is a great resource. There’s always some interesting little nugget in each episode. The episodes on procrastination are helpful. Kelton’s voice is like smoky honey so you won’t regret listening. Very soothing. I love the mix of interviews, something for everyone.

Authors are great, but interviewer sounds drunk?

Just began listening to the show, starting from the first episodes and absolutely love it. Such a fantastic show for writers.

Consistently the best podcast for aspiring writers. High-powered guests, with poignant questions posed by an intelligent host.
James McAndrew via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/08/22
This is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to that gets into the behind the scenes of accomplished writers’ habits and working lives. And an additional benefit - Kelton’s smooth husky voice is like honey melting the jagged crevices off an English muffin. One suggestion for my own interest,...Read full review »

The BLM propaganda and other political statements are not why I listen to the podcast. Surface and uninformed opinions with left wing slant detract from the content. Boo politics. The show has some quality interviews but the unnecessary political announcements make it a low priority for...Read full review »

This is definitely the podcast for writers! No longer are car rides spent wasting time- instead thought provoking questions on how someone changed writing focus or how they focus on writing allows us to hear the answers to the questions we would ask if given the opportunity. Kudos- and my TBR...Read full review »

I listen to this to hear from the authors, to hear them talk about their works and their processes. The interviewer rambles his way through questions. It is so frustrating. I want to hear from the authors. Ask some good questions rather than the disjointed rambling statements which might be a...Read full review »

This podcast has been extremely helpful to my writing process. Thank you to all the authors and Kelton for inspiring the creators to write daily. My favorite segment is the superhero stories and the brunch dates. Keep up the great work!!!

I found this while browsing on Spotify podcasts, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. Kelton interviews bestselling and well known writers across both fiction and non-fiction. The content offers very useful advice.

Excellent podcast with great writers, about their work and process. The host/interviewer is really good, I’d recommend for everyone who is interested in writing and for those who are looking to be exposed to writers they might not know. Really interesting.

The interviews are great, but due to the double-episode format, too much of each episode is taken up with introductory remarks and ads. The ratio of substance is just too low.

Great ‘cast, best one I’ve found on the topic. Hits the nuts & bolts and Stays on message. Doesn’t lose focus and start getting bogged down in ‘coffee chatter’ that can be all too frustrating. Excellent ... 5⭐️s 👍

I really enjoyed this podcast when I first discovered it, but lately it just sort of annoys me. It's always the same questions read directly from the script, and the host seems really bored/uninterested in the guests. He makes the mistake a lot of podcasters make. He talks too much. Give more of the floor to the guest. Podcasters don’t need to share about how they relate to each answer the guest gives to a question. A couple of times is fine.

I often listen to this podcast on my lunch break. It’s such an incredible opportunity to get into the minds of successful writers. I’m learning that my dream to be a novelist isn’t that far reaching. It gives me joy to listen to Kelton interview various talented writers. He asks probing questions in a structured and cohesive manner. He exudes competence and confidence. He speaks with authority and listens with intent. A great podcaster, in my humble opinion.

Writing is a solitary activity and it’s good to know what other writers are thinking and doing. Perhaps a bit more conversation interspersed with all those questions would make it even more enjoyable.
