“What on earth is with the awful narration? It never used to be so ludicrously slow — this has got worse in later series. It is beyond me how this has 4.4 stars; I can only imagine the score is bumped up by friends or those who have only listened to earlier episodes before the narration became the disaster it currently is. Even sped up it sounds bizarrely slow and the intonation is completely weird, with the words incorrectly stressed. Gone is the serious, well-paced delivery; it’s now as if it’s a speech computer programme instead of human. Unlistenable. Or should that be unlistenAAAAHble?”
