I’m afraid this is unlistenable due to the narrator’s strange robotic slowness.

Gosh people, if you don’t like the narration style don’t listen to it, find something else that suits your taste, or better yet, seeing as you are so well versed on these matters, why not start your own podcast and we will see what your reviews will be. Not everything has to be the same. People...Read full review »

Tried this for the first time, got 20 seconds in and gave up. I’m sorry, but whoever decided on this style of narration needs to have a rethink. Ruins an extremely good idea. You don’t need to try and create tension and drama. You just need to tell the story.

I feel like the delivery of this is not it - monotone and very slow
Becky Claire via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 04/15/24
I listen on increased speed (x1.25) and it’s perfect.

This is a simply heartwrenching story of victims of a very sick man. Well researched, written and narrated. Fascinating but so sad at the same time.

Best true crime podcast!

Feel awful for criticising this very well researched podcast but it’s so challenging to make it through an episode with the narrator’s voice, I mean WOW. I appreciate his professionalism but the sound of the voice literally makes me sleepy to the point I drift off and end up missing huge chunks...Read full review »

Really terrible monotone delivery ruins what is clearly a well researched podcast. Why has a person least equipped to narrate been given this job?! It really is surprising so many tune in regularly. For me, it is impossible to make it through an episode.

I really wanted to like this however his voice is beyond dull it makes it hard to listen to. Interesting podcast if someone else with better inflection was doing it.

I have listened for a long time but eleven adverts In a 30 minute podcast is too many. Let’s not chat about Hello Fresh. Bye

This chap needs to learn when and when not to use the word “quote” he needs to look up punctuation and use the word unquote also. Notice how he pauses after the word quote…totally spoils the narrative for me.

They Walk Among Us, the best True Crime Podcast. It’s absolutely brilliant. Don’t change a thing I’ve listened to a few T.C. Podcasts & it’s the best. May be a little slow however, it’s brilliant!

Boring subjects and terrible AI voice

I really want to listen to this but the voice kills it.

Love this series but would be great if episode show notes could indicate if case unsolved like many other true crime podcasts do

I’m so tired of getting “early access shows” I’m about to delete the podcast all together.

Hard to listen to, 1.25 speed is ok.

One of my favourite time crime podcasts, been listening for years, hoping many many more years of listening to come. Factual and informative which is what you need from crime podcasts.
surreygas via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 02/22/24
This show is great because there isn’t 10 minutes of banter between hosts at the beginning who think they’re funny. He presents the case straight off in a very well researched way. This is the kind of crime podcast I like. It’s very much like Casefile, my other favorite podcast.

My absolute FAVORITE True Crime Podcast! Benjamin and company are INCREDIBLE…, hands down ! Thank you for the great storytelling.

There are times when I have to take a break during an episode. Very disturbing, and I am not overly sensitive about the dark side of human nature.
5891Jonathan via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/17/24
His voice, the way he tells the story plus all the research they’ve done to bring us the full story is absolutely 5 stars! Whenever I’ve caught up on episodes, I start over and listen again! Absolutely worth trying. You won’t be disappointed.

I can’t afford a subscription so I wait for the free episodes as many other podcasters release free to listen episodes more regularly. This used to be my favourite podcast, now they seem to only cater to those who pay.

I am a true crime enthusiast, however, I am very particular with what I like and what I don’t like. First of all I must commend you on the content of these podcasts as they are fantastic, it is evident that they are well researched keeping me hooked from start to finish. And why no title or hint in what each episode is about. Total scam of a podcast

He gets better with each series. The first few sounded like he was recording in a box!

Content is good, but why has the speed of voice slowed so much? Didn’t used to be this way. 1.25 listening speed makes it bearable.
Alphabullracoon via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/26/24
Interesting cases but the host has a strange way of speaking. He often drastically slows down the last few words in a sentence (which is saying a lot since he already speaks quite slowly).
Ex-Murderino via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/26/24
Informative content but can no longer listen to the narrator and I really tried. That voice shreds my brain. Gutted.

Tried other podcasts and no offence but cant get away with way the tell the stories or their voice. Love listening to these podcast, love how spoken and told!! 5 star!!
Canbrown via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/15/24
I love the podcast. Despite others opinions, I find Benjamin’s voice makes it easier to listen to some quite disturbing facts. He has a very calming tone and even pace that gives you time to take everything in. It’s oddly relaxing to me, despite the subject matters.
Squishydino via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/10/24
Great podcasts and amazing research. Keep the speed is perfect!
Legnakrad_007 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/08/24
Another interesting and captivating True Crime podcast. However I have to listen at 1.25 speed as the speech is just too sloooow at normal speed. I prefer the episodes about older cases and tend to skip the newer better known ones.
AwesomeMrsB via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/05/24
Really well told. I love your ‘easy to understand voice’, (me being not a native english speaker) one of my absolute favorite podcasts.

Whats with the weird voice? spoils a great show.
3863349378 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/19/23
I find the voice incredibly soothing, despite the subject matter. Well researched and respectful. Seeing a new episode pop up is the highlight of my week.
Divgirl via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/07/23
Content is okay but the hosts voice is insufferable, sorry.
Ezzbah via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/04/23
The narration is so jarring. It just needs someone with a normal speed voice and narration to read it!
Jo Hyder via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/03/23
One of my favorites! His voice is soothing and appropriately non-dramatic.
Tb dub via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/02/23
Is this a human voice or a robot? Unlistenable.
Gigiggogo via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/02/23
Narrators very “put on” voice is slow, robotic and grating..makes it impossible to listen to the content, only the painful vocal delivery. It’s a real shame as the podcasts are well researched.
Asboprincess via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/21/23
I like the show but I do not understand why Benjamin has to talk SO slowly. Have to listen on 1.25x the speed but then need to slow down to normal speed to listen to clips or inserts of other people talking. Please. Just. Speak. Normally.
MsFedUp via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/21/23
Omg I love listening to true crime podcasts and was looking for something new but I can’t stand how boring this one is!! Not enough background music and his voice is insanely boring 🙄
Sianyase via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/26/23
Tried listening to it on x1.25- x2 speed. Still sounds on. Gave up on this podcast after a few minutes.
Amara.O via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/24/23
Great content but impossible to listen to
LisaVWood via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 10/15/23
The narration is frustratingly difficult to listen to. They say a face for radio, Benjamin regrettably does not have a voice for podcasts.
JonnyboyPantsman via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/14/23
Lasted about 30 seconds and had to turn off due to the terrible narration ! Is that even a human speaking ? When will podcasters realise that it’s best to just talk normally ? How about stop trying to be dramatic or mysterious or sinister or whatever . Just deliver the podcast .
