“I’ve got some experience in the technical side of speech synthesis and I’m as sure as I can be that the narrator is now a text to speech engine trained on the narrator’s natural voice from the earlier episodes. Might be because of illness or disability, or might be to save time and hassle. If you only have to write a script then have TTS generate audio without having to record and edit a thing, that’s a big saving. Which unfortunately renders it completely unlistenable to my ear.”
