Um...Guess maybe you don’t know it all
Listening to your show on: “The Lyrics”, it strikes me that you guys are having great difficulty accepting new information. While I can accept that Paul makes mistakes memory wise as we all do, I’m interested in learning new things like the story on “ Eleanor Rigby”. I don’t question at all why he never shared the info before. Perhaps he felt it was too personal to share or maybe he didn’t think it was our business. Who knows? What I find most amusing is that you and most “experts” can’t accept that John Lennon might not be exactly what you’ve always been so positive he was. I love John and I don’t see how Paul being a reader, an intellectual, the guy most involved in the hip 60s scene in some ways, causes any kind of problem or is hard to believe. It irks me that Paul’s so worked up over the order of Lennon and McCartney, but I get why. John’s murder caused him to become canonized and Paul has been significantly minimized if not outright denigrated. I’m sure it’s been painful for him in several ways and tough to deal with for 40 years and counting. I’ve heard and seen Paul called a liar way too many times which can’t be fun for him, and a good example before “The Lyrics” would be the song “Blackbird”. I find it extremely offensive that some people claim he’s lying about the meaning of the song. Of all the Beatles, it’s clear that John was the liar. He admitted as much, consistently going back on what he said and explaining his emotions not only caused him to say incorrect things, they also led him to be deliberately and excessively mean. I find this antagonist approach to Paul McCartney’s own story not only tiresome but downright infuriating. I get it —You guys are the experts. You know Paul and the Beatles better than Paul, a Beatle, knows them. You’ve read everything ever written over all these long years, you’ve made your living off your complete knowledge of all things Beatles, so whatever Paul says now that contradicts what you’re so positive is the truth, is at worst the pathetic ramblings of an insecure old man who frequently lies, or at best a faulty memory. I’m sixty years old, a nearly literal lifelong Beatles/McCartney fan and my attitude when I read something new from Paul is : “Wow, I didn’t know that. That’s so cool.” Oh well, I guess Paul’s story is best told by the experts. I mean, the guy’s got no credibility and what could he possibly know anyway?

...and listen to every episode. 2 improvements I would suggest: 1) Skip the lengthy intros. We all know who the guys are now. I’ve gotten to the point that once I hit play on a new episode, first thing I immediately skip forward 2-3 minutes. 2) The noises in the background seem to be getting...Read full review »
