Interesting, but not perfect
The hosts are knowledgeable and they choose interesting topics to discuss. This is the reason I listen to episodes. But the hosts will often get into @&$*-measuring contests where they try to put do each other on Beatles-cred, knowledge of obscurity etc. Alan in particular loves to demonstrate how he is intellectually superior to things, and demonstrates absolute disdain for things he considered to be below him. For example, when discussing a video game score he could not resist repeatedly emphasizing that he had no interest in video games and looks down on those that do. We get it! It’s very hard to listen to at times, but I can’t stop listening... Update: I listened to more episodes and I realized that even though Alan comes off as very snooty at times, he has great thoughtful analysis.

The audio quality is terrible: tinny, very low fidelity. This is particularly baffling considering DeVivo is a professional broadcaster. Often the guests are let to ramble, and I think the interviewers need to keep them on point. Sometimes they get things flat-out wrong: for instance, the recent...Read full review »
