Sketchy gender politics
I like the idea of this podcast but wish the makers would have begun with a different film. There’s something tone-deaf about two dudes dissecting the performances and careers of a movie (Mona Lisa Smile) featuring six major female actors and roles, marketed to women. Occasionally they seem self-aware - as when they say the film’s production team needed more women - but they could take their own advice and invite a female critic to share the mic. Didn’t sit well with me. (Also, if you don’t know an actress personally, don’t call her by her first name, please!)
