“This is Hell! is a well-calibrated mixture of high level discourse with lowbrow humor, and top-drawer guests with lesser-known but equally indispensable voices (the Irregular Correspondent is IMHO the show's defining feature). It should occupy a much more prominent position in the pecking-order of political programming. The only reasons it doesn't are perhaps its built-in midwestern humility (broadcasting from a college radio station probably helps...) and the fact that it's four hours at a stretch. Great for me since I listen at work while doing repetitive manual labor, but for the normal 21st century attention span this could be a bit of a journey.
