One of the best
TWIV is one of the best science podcasts on available. Each week the hosts cover a variety of topics, usually reviewing a few current stories in the news or about recent discoveries in virology, answering some reader e-mails and then exploring a particular topic in depth. They frequently have guests with special expertise in the week's topic, but each of the three regular hosts is a has extensive knowledge covering much of modern biology. The level of discourse is sufficiently varied that any science buff with some basic understanding of the vocabulary in biology will get something out of each episode without being bored by simplifications and review or overwhelmed by advanced topics. They happily answer listener questions on foundational topics. They bring in a lot of great stories about the history of virology, have good sound quality, update regularly, and do a very nice job with the pace of the show and the amount of time spent on each topic. You can tell that they love what they do—both in producing the podcast and in their professional lives.Read full review »
