Quality science
Vincent and company do a great job of choosing information that is of widespread importance and interest and explaining it clearly, and I've learned a lot of interesting things about viruses. However, the best thing about this podcast is the insight it provides into how science is done and how scientists think. For instance, when reporting a new result the podcasters will discuss what other explanations might account for the result, what other questions are raised, what experiments could be done to answer these questions, and what the implications are for other areas. I also like the discussion about research methods: how clinical trials work, containment methods for working with dangerous viruses, and the ethical and risk management guidelines. I think it's great for public understanding of science that this kind of quality information is accessible to everyone, so thanks and keep up the good work! Twitter id: eva_uvicRead full review »

More reviews of This Week in Virology
Fantastic podcast! Informative and entertaining. As a graduate student in Virology, I can keep learning in a more relaxed fashion while working on experiments, and it keeps me update on the newest development in Virology. Great job!

As a pre-med student with a focus in microbiology I've found this pod cast really accentuates my classes. I really enjoy the new and different information, presented in a less time consuming manner than hunting down the articles and reading them myself, and with multiply views.Read full review »

Start each Sunday by downloading TWiV, then letting the excellent virology lesson sink in while I run. I don't have a science background but it's fascinating stuff, well-taught. The humor helps make it stick and I find myself repeating stories I've heard on TWiV to others.Read full review »
