Thank you for this podcast. No one in my life reads Harry Potter. It's nice to have, for the first time, someone to read alongside with.
I have a theory about why Peeves is afraid of the Bloody Baron. If Poltergeists are the manifestation of a particular attending quality (e.g. rule-breaking) then perhaps the students at that time, as well as relentless rule-breaking, harboured an extreme fear of the bloody baron, and this quality manifested in parallel with rule-breaker into Peeves the Poltergeist.
But we can go even further. Perhaps the Bloody Baron was a live man brought into the school as a last resort to bring the rule-breaking under control. This would explain why the rule-breaking and fear of the Bloody Baron coincided.”Read full review »
