One can only imagine… the pain/suffering, heartache and mental fortitude it takes to endure what she did. This podcast has piqued my interest and I am looking forward to additional episodes!!

The interviewer is distractingly sanctimonious. Her story is compelling but the production, the music and the interviewer make this content unlistenable. Such a shame.

I listen to dozens and dozens of true crime Podcasts and have never come across one like this. This topic and Aleah are so intriguing. I loved the series “The Americans” but had no clue it was so fact based. Pretty scary really. Thank you for this Podcast.

Very impressed with all of the background research and learning you did to prepare to interview her with respect and care. And equally impressed with your willingness to be openminded to everything she brought (and did not bring) to the table. Powerful.

While at first I was turned off by elements that seemed to be peddling sensationalistic misogynistic tropes of idiot origin, it soon develops into a respectful and psychologically-informed exploration of a harmed human being and how she passed on that harm to others.

I’ve been sucked in since I started. Only giving 4 stars because I’ve finished and now have to wait until June to get the rest of the story!

I loved Neil’s “To live and die in LA” podcast which took me here. He’s such a talented storyteller and this was no exception 👏🏼 Looking forward to season 2.

The story is so good and so well told, but I don’t understand the reasoning behind the repetitive ads. I could even listen to one or two, but how they thought it would be a good idea to insert THE SAME ad three times in each and every episode???? What’s the marketing team thinking??? Well,...Read full review »

What could have been really interesting and educational feels voyeuristic and misogynistic with a hint of anti-Soviet / anti-Russian propaganda. Honey traps exist and have for centuries. This podcast fails at the assignment of investigating the phenomenon and instead sensationalises it like a...Read full review »

I am a fan of To Live and Die in LA, but this podcast was compelling and intriguing on a subject that is fascinating. It left me wanting to know more and eagerly awaiting season 2. Please keep up the excellent work. Hopefully, we will not have to wait very long.

I listened to Neil’s other pods and have enormous respect for him as a journalist. I don’t buy this story. Things are just not adding up. Sensitively and compassionately told. A truly mesmerizing, and gripping, first hand account of life as a Russian seduction agent.

I have listened to episodes 1-8 of To Die For and I will not be returning for volume two. It is difficult for me to hear Aliia as a sympathetic voice. I also find it impossible to believe that a sheltered girl from a Muslim family became a seductress in less than 12 months and was able to...Read full review »

I’m sorry but there’s way too much time given to how the subject is sexually abused. The first three episodes left me cold and I gave up. It would have been better balanced if the initial episodes gave more context in terms of what happened in her future, rather than in depth information about...Read full review »

Binged it and it is an interesting listen, but it is obviously a nice work of fiction. As I’m listening I’m also laughing. Making Russia out to be evil and again, the west as the perfect solution. But what they do in military training in general, is done globally across all militaries. This is no different. And sexpionage is a tactic used globally too. The Mossad has used it. The...Read full review »

Lord. I just looked at all of the social media pages. How did you get taken in by this complete fraud unless you had no other stories to tell? Where is the slightest amount of journalistic fact checking?

This is a completely unique and captivating story. I started listening with complete trust and open-mindedness because the story of Adea Shabani on To Live & Die in L.A. was one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard. It set the bar really high. Best podcast I’ve listened too! My heart was breaking for her, a true example of abuse of power, torn innocence and becoming a product of your environment. Can’t wait for season 2!

Kinda terrible I’d give it zero stars if I could. From to live and die which I’d give a 10 if could to this is like a fall off a cliff. I see why you made all the episodes available immediately instead of milking it out.

I discovered Neil when I binged “To Live & Die In LA” (a title that harkens me back to Tupac’s song by the same name).
