Why is this show hidden away in a distant part of the BBC output?
'Trending' is a proven weapon against fake news and misinformation. It really should become prime-time output on BBC1 where, reaching the kind of people who so easily fall for the scammers and trolls, it could be an example of public service broadcssting at its most effective. Instead it shines like a gem in a forgotten corner of the studio floor. Featuring trail-blazing stories often ignored for months by other reporters, the team calmly and rationally debunk many of the social media panics and conspiracies theories that undercut civil society. This is disappointingly one sided which is driving a particular agenda. It’s a shame that journalism is no longer truly investigative and is part of a larger machine to control a majority narrative.
