Fantastic!
My boyfriend recommended your podcast on the Trojan War to me back in October 2023, and I've been engrossed in the world of Greek mythology ever since. I was always interested in learning more about their culture and all of the different myths, but I had no idea where to start. These podcasts are a gift to people like me who are easily overwhelmed because of how easy it is to follow along. Your storytelling is unmatched! I feel like I'm right there in the story too. (I gotta say, when Achilles was killed by Prissy Paris from an arrow to the ankle, the only part of his body not protected by the River Styx, I lost my marbles). I also wanted to mention how much I appreciate the post-story commentaries. As much as I enjoy the stories, learning about their culture, the order in which these poems were written, the conflicting opinions of historians and translators, and alternative storylines have given me a much greater appreciation for the depth of mythology, and have served as the foundation of my new obsession; allowing me to dig further into other myths, like Heracles and the 12 labours, Pandora's box (or jar), Hades and Persephone, Jocasta and Oedipus, etc. so, thank you! I also picked up a copy of Emily Wilson's The Iliad, but I've only made it through 5 books so far. Also, I would absolutely love it if you someday created a podcast retelling of the Aeneid-- I have yet to find one that holds my attention like your show does. You're the bomb!Read full review »
