Very Good True Crime Podcast
I've been making my way through all of the True Murder podcasts, and I have really enjoyed them (although it's always a little weird to use the word "enjoy" when talking about tales of horrific death). I actually like that they are low-fi. It feels more intimate. I have developed a great affection for the interviewer, who is particularly graceful talking to authors whose POV on a murder might be out there (the recent Cathy Scott podcast comes to mind; her theory was incoherent and she would barely let the interviewer talk; he handled it beautifully and with respect). The format of interviewing authors of true crime books is simple but inspired. Authors have their own opinions about the cases about which they write, and that makes the podcast particularly interesting, whether you agree or disagree with their take. The interview lets the authors take center stage, although I do wish he would offer his opinion in conversation with the author, since when he has it has always been interesting (particularly how Canada's legal system works….prosecutors can actually appeal a decision!). The interview does tend to repeat himself when he asks a question, sometimes saying the same thing three times. But after a few podcasts I stopped noticing. I recommend this podcast for true crime buffs.Read full review »

The content of this show is usually pretty good, if you can get over the awful production value and how unprepared and unprofessional the host sounds. I understand that they do a lot of interviews over the phone, but Dan usually sounds worst than the guest. Lots of "um" and "uh"...Read full review »
