“Tumanbay has got to be the single most underrated audio-drama out there. Think Games of Thrones in audio form in terms of plot and tone.. For me it's between We're Alive, Wolf 359, Bright Sessions, Once and Future Nerd, and Tanis. This is truly an accomplishment. This has A+++ sound design on par with We're Alive and Archive 81, the writing is off the chart, voice acting could not have a more talented and perfect ensemble to work with, and the story itself is phenomenal.
Very similar to Game of Thrones in that it is a work of fantasty but based in very gritty historical realism, based in the time of the Ottoman Empire. Different factions vying for power, dozens of characters each with their own motives, whole lot of plotlines that dance and intersect with one another, political intrigue, betrayal, backstabbing, loyalty, romance...this thing is just a beast of a well-written and produced and acted podcast.
