This is my 3rd time listening through this podcast. Will is a magnificent DM, the production is memorable and doesn’t overshadow the story, and the PCs all conduct themselves true to their characters. You don’t hear forced joking throughout the podcast like you do in other podcast. This is a...Read full review »

Meh. Interesting setting, good DM but 6 episodes in and I think there were three rolls. This would be bearable but the Crow is always greedily taking the spot light leaving no air for the rest of the party. Feels like the DM and one player with some side kicks not a true group

Easily my favorite D&D real-play podcast. The DM does a fantastic job of creating vivid imagery and horrific situations, and the players excel at staying in-character and provide great descriptions and interpretations of their own. I only wish this podcast would continue - it’s been several...Read full review »

Incredible scene building. Characters feel real. Dark and deep and I’m only just past the character origins. Well done all! Up to episode 34. The dm is an amazing story teller! Terrible human being but an amazing story teller! Welcome all to Turncloaks! Aka will loses friends.

It’s really good story telling but things get dark. Probably more realistic of a DnD campaign. Cheers all! 👍🍻

The game is incredibly cool, but more importantly the game has so much cool stuff to steal as a DM, thank god my players don’t listen. If they found out they would think of me as a hack!

Wow! I’ve never heard a D&D campaign quite like this one. Powerful imagery, beautifully bleak story-telling, just all around fantastic. I’m only on episode 2 (aka 4 of you include the origins) can’t wait to see this story through. If you’re looking for goofy and happy go lucky, this isn’t...Read full review »

Only a few episodes back, they said they were around half way done! And then they just stopped posting new episodes. I need closure! 😂

This is an Audio novel rather than a PodCast, lead brilliantly from the DM who makes you grit your teeth as he pulls the strings and guides the party into a deeply gripping adventure. He is possible the best DM I have ever heard as he makes you twist and squirm in your seat as he bring twist...Read full review »

Just found this at the end of 2019...wow. I have listened to a few other actual play podcast, and this was my first for a...dark fantasy setting. I was hooked within the first couple of minutes. Horrific. Depressing. Brutal. Bloody. Riveting! Despite the fact that we only go through half the story and we won’t get any more it is entirely worth the listen. Best role play of any actual play cast out there.

You will be sucked in, caught up, and gripped by this story. There is nothing quite like this out there. The narrative, the characters, the world...everything is so deeply engaging and so VERY haunting. Do not think you are walking into something light. This review is seriously overdue—Turncloaks is such a solid, enjoyable story that I'm now on my fourth full relisten, and it hasn't gotten a single bit less riveting. Turncloaks is set in a low magic dark world using mechanics from 5E of D&D. This actual play podcast build a universe that at times will leave you gasping from shock or crying from the story. Did I plan on crying at 3am listening to a podcast? No I did not. Am I? Yes. This is by far one of the best podcasts I have ever listened to! This is defiantly something that I can see myself listening to over and over again

I’m new to d&d, like so new I don’t even play, but I have friends who are into it and I thought I’d look up some podcasts to listen to to see what it’s all about. I didn’t realize I’d be having my heartbroken but I didn’t really mind either. The story might be dark but it’s so well done, if a...Read full review »

Now, I have only listened to 10 minutes of the first episode of this, but based on the reviews and just the entire genre it’s based around in general (Dark Fantasy), it seems all too depressing to listen to. I enjoy the dark themes and the characters of a dark and broken world, a bleak joy”without the joy” as entertainment it is like whiskey hard and burning and it burns the whole way down, though it can be a bit maudlin, it is a joy to hear the cries as the D.M. Turns the screws
