“Ok, that’s hyperbolic.
Let me make my case. I regularly consume mid-stream intellectual podcasts: Joe Rogan, Sam Harris, Sean Carrol (Mindscape), Lex Fridman, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Intelligence Squared, ABC RN (All in the mind).
They’re all excellent and the same guest often appears on several of them (usually authors with a new book)
Iona does the best interview, by far because she:
- reads the book!
- prepares for the interview
- reads out passages from the book which really helps the listener understand
- doesn’t just push her own opinion (Note to Sam Harris)
- doesn’t pretend to know the unknowable
- intelligently opens up the discussion
- has a worldview that is wonderfully diverse (I really appreciate this because I have lived in nine countries, and Iona often asks exactly the question I would like to ask.
